The Czechs from Tigers claimed the bronze medals in the EuroFloorball Cup 2009. In the bronze medal match Classic was defeated with 9-3.
Even though Tigers and Classic clearly lost their semifinals yesterday the fighting spirit were back on the teams, when they fought for the bronze medal. In the end the Czech fighting turned out to be the best. Some good moments were not enough for Classic to end their losing streak in this tournament. Tigers SJM played a good match and rewarded their great victory against Red Ants Rychenberg in the preliminary round with the women’s bronze medal.
The Finns started the match best after eight minutes but with two quick goals halfway through the first period Tigers made a decisive turning point of the match. Classic scored their second goal in power play, but the answer from the Tigers was scoring three goals in four minutes. Led by Ilona Novotná Tigers improved their lead during the second period to 7-3.
Classic tried to get back in the game with better play in the final period. However even how much they struggled to reduce the goal difference, they never managed to score the goal, that could have opened the match. Instead Tigers scored with five minutes left to destroy the Finns’ hope. They further more improved the score to the final result 9-3 in the end before they could celebrate the victory.
Tigers could well deserved take the bronze medals for the second time as they won bronze as well in the January edition of EFC in 2008 under the name HFK Dekanka.
